Financial Planning

A plan for your money that fits the life you actually want.

Pensions, savings, investments and the question of what you leave behind. We help individuals, families and business owners across Merseyside make sense of all of it, working from the same numbers as your accountant so the advice holds together.

What we cover

Five areas, one joined-up plan

Most decisions about money affect more than one part of your life. A pension contribution changes your tax bill; a gift to the children changes your estate. We look at them together so one good decision does not quietly undo another.

  • Retirement & Pension

Working out when you can afford to stop, what income you will have when you do, and how to build up your pension in the meantime.

  • Estate & Inheritance

Planning how your wealth passes on, with an eye on inheritance tax and the will, trusts and gifts that sit alongside it.

  • Business Protection

Keeping the business on its feet if an owner or someone it relies on dies or falls seriously ill.

  • Protection & Insurance

Making sure the people who rely on your income would be looked after if that income stopped.

  • Succession Planning

Getting ready to step back from a business you have built, whether that means a sale, a management buyout or passing it to family.

How we work

Advice that starts with your accounts, not a product

Because MCPW is an accountancy practice as well as a planning firm, your adviser can see the whole picture: what the business earns, how you take your income and what tax you are paying. That means recommendations that fit your real position rather than a questionnaire.

We start by listening, put our recommendations in writing in plain English, and review them with you as life moves on. If the right answer is to do nothing for now, we will say so.

Common questions

What people ask before they start

As early as you can, but it is rarely too late to improve things. Even in the last few years before you stop work, decisions about how and when you draw your pension can make a real difference to your income and your tax bill.
