Accounting

Accounts that tell you something, not just satisfy Companies House.

Bookkeeping, year-end accounts, tax and payroll for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies across Merseyside, plus personal tax for individuals. Filed on time, explained in plain English, with the planning, protection and funding side of the firm on hand when you need it.

An MCPW accountant going through a set of accounts with two clients in the office
  • 28 yrs

    preparing accounts in Merseyside

  • 300+

    businesses on our books

  • 100%

    filed to deadline last year

What we handle

Five services, one set of books

Take one of them or all five. They run off the same records either way, so nothing gets entered twice and nothing falls between two people.

  • Audit & Assurance

A statutory audit run to a timetable you agree in advance, or an independent examination where a full audit is not required.

  • Tax Service

Corporation tax, self assessment and VAT: prepared, checked and filed, with the reliefs you are entitled to actually claimed.

  • Bookkeeping

Day-to-day books kept current in Xero or FreeAgent, so the year-end is a formality rather than a scramble.

  • Company Formations

Incorporation, share structure and the registrations that follow, set up properly the first time.

  • Management Accounts

Monthly or quarterly numbers you can run the business on, with the commentary that explains what moved and why.

What you can hold us to

The bits most clients change accountant over

  • A fixed fee, agreed first

A written scope and a monthly or annual figure before any work starts. No hourly billing, and no invoice for picking up the phone.

  • One person who knows your file

A named accountant rather than whoever is free. They keep the whole picture, including anything the planning or funding side is working on.

  • Answers in plain English

You should finish a meeting knowing what the numbers mean and what to do next. If an explanation needs jargon, we have explained it badly.

  • Deadlines handled quietly

We track the filing dates and chase the paperwork we need well ahead of them. Being told about a deadline the week before is not a service.

How we work

Moving to us takes about a fortnight

  1. A look at where you are

A free half hour going through how the books are kept now, what is filed, and anything HMRC is waiting on.

  2. Scope and fee

A written proposal covering exactly which returns and accounts we handle, when, and for what fee.

  3. The handover

We write to your current accountant for professional clearance and collect the records. Usually done inside a fortnight.

  4. Through the year

Books kept current, deadlines met, and a conversation before year-end rather than a surprise bill after it.

Accounting questions

What clients ask before moving to us

Yes, and it is the most common way clients join us. We pick up from the last set of filed accounts, agree who is handling the current period, and write to your existing accountant for clearance.

Let's talk about your year-end

Half an hour, no charge, no obligation. Bring last year's accounts and whatever HMRC has sent you, and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right firm for it.
